There is no charge, nnly request that no flowers be pulled. Morgan Newall, Berwin, Pa. is home for his spring vacation. W. L. “Pop” Burnett Walter Lester Burnett, 72, af fectionately known as Pop Burnett, died of a heart attack shortly after midnight Thursday at 12:35. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o’clcck at the Tryon Methodist Church of which he was a member. Rev. Paul F. Davis, pastor, and Rev. Henry’ Hearn of the Baptist church wiil officiate. Interment will be at Yarborough Chapel at Cross Anchor, S. C. Mr. Burnett was a native of Spartanburg County, Hobbyville community. He gave up his farm ing interests in 1920 and moved to Hendersonville and from there came to Tryon in 1927 to operate Edgewood Inn, now Buckingham Inn, for about seven years, until he retired. He later operated Pop’s Place. His chief hobby was developing his flower garden. Mr. Burnett is survived by his -widow, Mrs. Helen Burnett; one daughter, Mrsl. R. L. Dover, Jack sonville, Fla; two sons, Ernest and R. C. Burnett of Tryon; one sister, Mrs. Etolia Layton, Hobbyville, S. C.: three brothers, E. C. Wendell of Spartanburg, and Lafayette of Columbia, S. C. McGavens In Washington Rev. and Mrs. Charles L. Mc Gavern are in Washington, D. C. at the Rock Creek Parish where Mr. McGavern is conducting a mission this week. They will re turn to Tryon on Saturday. Karsten At Rotary P. I>. Karsten will be in charge of the Tryon Rotary Club pro gram Friday at 1 'p\ m. at Oak Hall hotel.
